Please help, for the second time I've received the wrong book and I'm not sure how to prevent it from happening again

the problem is the book I want is a hardcover and the book I receive is a paperback with no isbn on the back

but an isbn belonging to the hardcover on the first page.

Any ideas on how to stop loosing my credits and get the book I want.

Please and thank you.

I'd put an RC up stating that you only want a hardcover for that specific book.

You can turn on and off your RC.  Under settings.  But to do this, you need to have the books NOT be on auto request.  That gives you the option to change the RC or push the button to not apply your RC.

I've set up RCs that are for one specific book.  I've also set up a RC once when a WL book from overseas was declared lost, asking folks to turn down the request to give the lost book more time to arrive.   Just remember to turn the RC off for other books or after the right one arrives.

I'm curious, what is the name of the book?

Be sure to mark the books RWAP and ask for your credit back because they did not follow the rules when posting the book. If they baulk and give you arguement, remind them that if they do not return your credit, you will mark the transaction "Unresolved" and this counts as two black marks against your account rather than just the one. Copy the posting rules that they are supposed to be making sure that all 4 items match: ISBN, BINDING, TITLE, and AUTHOR. If they implecate that they knew they posted the book wrongly, be sure to let PBS know using the feedback form on the Contact Us page at the bottom of all pages, since they may well be doing this to more than just the book you received.

If it's been a consistant problem with those 2 books-it's probably a publishing printing error or they reused the ISBN's.  I joined a book club recently and when I put the ISBNs in there all my hardcovers came up with paperback bindings.  So I know they just reused the mmp ISBN to put out these book club books.

This is not an excuse for the senders to ignore the binding.  Mark them RWP and ask for your credit back.  But the RC might help prevent it in the future.  Only use it for those 2 books and say something like "The hardcover and paperback version of this book xxxx by xxxx may have the same ISBN.  Please only send me your book if it's a hardcover.  If your book is not a hardcover it should be posted without an ISBN per PBS guidelines. THank you"
