An absolutely charming rollicking adventure story. However, to enjoy it, you have to be determined to ignore the gag-inducing levels of blatant sexism. Really, it's worth it, but you should pick up the book prepared.

Podkayne, or "Poddy", is a precocious teenage twit who, along with her even more precocious and nasty brother, goes for a fantastic interplanetary cruise. With clever subterfuge and occasional batting of eyelashes, she manages to get herself involved in several bad messes and some lethal politics. By the end of it, she and her brother have learned whole new levels of deviousness and the fact that women should be taking care of babies. If those sound like contradictory messages, you'll just have to read the book to figure it out.
