I have a fourteen year old girl and really want to start introducing poetry. I would like suggestions on Christian poets and/or poetry collections (books). thanks!

A Beka's Literature of the American People, Themes in Literature, and English Literature Classics for Christians are all excellent resources that have poetry, short stories, and excerpts. I highly recommend them.

I have a book at home called "The New Oxford Book of Christian Verse" by Donald Davie (ISBN 0192821571).  We haven't used it much, but you might want to check it out.

I just ordered a book from PBS called "An Introduction to Poetry" by X.J. Kennedy and Dana Gioia (ISBN 0673522784 for the 8th edition).  In the first half of the book, each chapter introduces an element of poetry along with poems that illustrate that element.  The second half of the book includes an anthology of more poems.  I ordered it for my high school senior because I didn't feel like we covered much about poetry (except for sonnets) up 'til now.

Christina Rosetti- I hope the spelling is right. She lived centuries ago but her Christian poetry stands the test of time. It's available online for free, or you can look for books with her poetry in them as well. Goblin Market was one of her longer and more famous poems, if I remember rightly.

Mary Oliver is more modern.

Anything with Rudyard Kipling in it.

I've picked up books of poetry at second hand stores, the older ones have the best selection imo, but I like classic lit.
