Barbara Taylor's Pole to Pole (in Barron's The Natural World series) is a nice quick glance at the flora, fauna, and environment of the North and South Poles. Beautifully illustrated, the text consists of little more than extended captions on the photos but those captions are quite well done.

If you're looking for an in-depth look at the animals of the polar regions (face it, there are very few plants, especially in Antarctica!) and the world in which they live, this will not satisfy you. BUT at 32 pages, you should definitely realize that when you pick the book up or shame on you! BUT if you're looking for some interesting factoids with some nice photos, this book is definitely worth your time.

3 ½ stars. Rounded down to 3 stars where ½ stars are not allowed.

Same book, but this copy has a picture of a wolf on the front instead of a penguin. "An enlightening and in-depth look at all aspects of life at the ends of the Earth."
