The Ponder Heart
Author: Eudora Welty
The Ponder Heart is one of Eudora Welty's happiest books and Uncle Daniel Ponder, who was "good as gold,"...one of her most triumphant creations. The trouble with Uncle Daniel was that he was not only generous, he was rich as Croesus, and when he started giving away, his own niece Edna Earle couldn't stop him.

This was a funny short easy read. It seemed like it would be a good play or theater production. Interesting characters.

This book written by a southern author takes you to front porches, sweet tea, and languid afternoons. He is a character!

Humerous story by Welty. We used it for our book club. Raised much interesting discussion.

Most folks thought Uncle Daniel was a little strange; but his only trouble really was that he was over generous. He even tried to give away his own cemetery lot, once. And when he married, the second time, it was only so he'd have somebody around all the time to give things to. He hardly suspected that he'd be on trial for murder a month later.
