Frederic Remington was an author and illustrator in the late 1880's who lived a vagabond lifestyle, reporting and drawing its life and times as a staff writer for the Harper's Weekly magazine. Pony Tracks was first published in 1895 and contained 15 of his articles and drawings from the magazine. This 1982 version was republished to reintroduce the marvelous words and pictures to a new generation. Remington's love of the West and his honest outlook of the events that shaped the frontier are clearly reflected in his writings and pictures. He made no attempt to hide the hardships and sometimes unpleasant situations of the time but wrote with frankness and enthusiasm of his own experiences in the untamed land.
