I grabbed this on a whim as I recognized the title from a film. Not that I saw it, but I recognized it. Here is another book, long since fallen into undeserved obscurity, to which no film can attempt to do justice. It's a fantasy, a day dream, a mystery, all in one as Jennie (like Dorian Gray;s portrait) ages considerably at each encounter with a down-and-out artist. She is his muse; his sketches of her and her portrait bring him fame, but not love. Don't miss this one!
