"The Poseidon Adventure " was well written book exploring a very interesting aspect of human nature, how people behave when they believe they are about to die. Paul Gallico reaches into the depths of human nature and exposes the flaws and motivations in characters who begin their cruise as normal, dignified individuals...An enjoyable read.

Very interesting. The older movie version stuck much closer to the book than the newer movie version. It had lots of racial and religious aspects in it that were common when it was written. Strange to read those parts today. Some of it was dry and long winded, but overall very scary.

The original book on which the 1972 adventure moview was based on, as well as a 2005 made-for-TV movie, and a to-be-released 2006 movie. The book explores the characters in much more depth, and is an excellent tale.

It's the same as the movie, basically.

A passenger ship, on her way to the scrap yard is pushed to her limits by the new owners to save on the dismantling fees. A tidal wave hits her, flipping her over so that all the internal rooms are upside down. A priest takes a mixed band of survivors on a journey through the bowels of the ship in an attempt to survive.

1972 First Dell printing which came out shortly after the original movie. Book in very good condition. Vintage photos on back cover of all star cast members such as Roddy McDowell, Shelly Winters, Red Buttons, Ernest Bornine and Stella Stevens. An exciting adventure with great characterizations and how people relate under tragedy and duress. My husband's all time favorite book and movie.
