I suppose most of today's generation knows Alec Guinness only for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, which he describes as a mere "fairy-tale rubbish". If you have not yet had the pleasure of his earlier films, such as The Man in the White Suit, or Kind Hearts and Coronets, won't know his droll humour and sparkling comedy. He was also an avid admirer of Shakespeare. These journal entries are reminiscences as well as contemporary experiences - thoughtful, hilarious and sometimes poignant. Another reader rated this at half a star! Can't understand why. Highly recommended.
