I have a wishlist book that is ready to post but i am not sure I should post it. There is a tear on the cover but it is within the 1 inch that is allowed. However, they tears look like chew marks but i know for a fact they are not. I am worries that the requester will think they are chew marks and mark it as RWAP. What should I do?
Thanks |

I would not post it. The whole perception is reality thing. If I got a book that looked like bite marks I wouldn't be happy no matter what the sender said. But,,, offer it in BB. I have offered unpostables for a credit in the BB for highly wish listed books and listed what the problem was and they usually get snatched up. When they do, don't post it too the requesters WL, because even if agreed upon your not supposed to post unpostables. Have the requester buddy a credit and I usually use the mail to a friend feature. :) |

If the tear is less than 1 inch, I would post it. I might tape it first if I had appropriate tape to mend it (not scotch tape). I throw books in my purse all the time and sometimes my keys and whatnot dig into the covers, which can look like bite marks if you don't know how it happened. I post those anyway too, never had a problem. I've also had books that have scratches, scrapes, rubs, dings in the cover, that's all perfectly postable as long as the damage doesn't cross into breaking a rule. Is the tear small enough to cut off? Small amounts of cover are allowed to be missing, such as corners as stores may use that as a indication of a remainder. Quote from the help docs: "some used book stores cut out a small part of the cover; if the amount missing is less than 1 square inch, this is OKAY"

I would post it. When it gets requested, just send PM that says exactly what you said here. I find that most people just like to know what to expect. |
