Hi! I'm new here and have just posted my first books over the past week. I wanted to post a hardback but the dust cover is missing. When I go to post it the second step says that without the cover I shouldn't post it. Is there a way to post it and say that it is missing so people know when they look at it?

Thanks!

No it doesn't need the dust Jacket

This is from the help center:

  • Hardbacks do not need to have their dust jackets to be swapped here, and are worth one credit - the same as paperbacks.

And welcome to PBS:)

Thank you! I'm still trying to learn things on here! I feel a little overwhelmed at some of the stuff but I know that I'll learn as I go. On another note - I looked around trying to find out what some of the things mean like "Tag", etc.. Do you know where I might find some of that info?

Tags are a relatively new feature here at PBS.  Book tags are used to mark or tag a book with information about the book that isn't in the usual information statistics.  You can use tags in a general way, for instance:  to mark one of the Alphabet Series books (like A is for Alibi) by Sue Grafton as "mystery" or "Kinsey Millhone" series.  So you'd tag that book with a tag that says Mystery and tag it again with a tag that says Kinsey Millhone.

You can also tag them with personal reminders:  like a tag for Aunt Norma Xmas gift, or one that says Best book ever.

All the tags will show up for anyone viewing them, but only you can edit your own tags.  When enough tags are attached to a book, the tags with the least amount of uses will eventually drop off the general viewing, so eventually, your personal tags will only be viewable for you, once this feature is being used extensively throughout the site.  It's still pretty new.

You can also click on a tag and it will bring up a list of the other books marked with that tag.  For instance, if you saw a historical romance tag, click on it and it will tell you how many times that tag has been used in the system, and bring up a list of all books tagged with that tag.  Eventually, I think they are going to institute a better Tag searching function on the site, but for now you have to do it this way.

Here is the PBS link explaining tags better than I can do it. http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=tags

Thank you! That makes sense. I went through the Help Center through the main topics but I was getting the answers I was looking for. Next time I'll search for specific things like the link you sent me.
