Is it O.K. to post this kind of quesiton here ? The short of it is , do you have any experience with Ragdoll cats and would you consider them to be hypoallergenic ? The long of it is posted below.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My 12 year old would really love to have a cat and so would my 19 year old. They are both allergic to cats.
There is someone  offering a Ragdoll cat which she says does not trigger allergies. She says her and her mother in law are both severely allergic to cats but not to this cat.
I am so tempted to get this (if still available) cat because my children have been deprived of having pets for soooooo long and really want one.
I have seen some people online claiming that Ragdoll cats are hypoallergenic and others saying that  that is not true.
My husband says go ahead and visit the cat with my daughter and see if she reacts. We may or may not have the opportunity before someone else snatches up this cat. But we want to try it.
Our kids have really suffered alot from allergies and I am tired of seeing them sick. I am also tired of not seeing them  have the wonderful experience of caring for a pet.
Has anyone here had any experience with allergies and Ragdoll cats ?
I don't know about Ragdoll cats but I would say to schedule a visit with both of your kids with you and see if either one has a reaction. That will probably be the only way to tell.
Yes, We had come to the conclusion we should make a visit with both kids and see how it went. The cat owner agreed to let us do this.
But we ended up deciding to pass on this for now. Our kids have both been sick so much all these years and it has interferred  with their learning  so we didn't want  to take the chance  of aggravating their allergies anymore. But it was a really big temptatioin because we really did love our cats when we had them years ago.
We have a 21 year old daugther that is married and they have 2 cats. Two years ago, when we would visit, our now 12 year old had pretty strong reactions to the cats. Now when we visit she has mild reactions to the cats. So hopefully, she will continue to decline in her allergic reactions. But I don't know for sure if she is becoming desensitized to just these 2 cats or cats in general. I feel sad we couldn't get her a cat right now. It could be a nice little companion for her and she was so happy about the idea of possibly getting one. I think it would be good for her to have a pet to take care of.
