I haven't been super busy since joining PBS -- maybe sending out 1-3 books a week.  However, for the past 2-3 weeks, I haven't had any orders.  Is this happening to everyone, or do I need to freshen my shelf  a bit?

I noticed a swapping slowdown starting in October sometime, but things have picked up within the last week or so. I'm doing a little early spring cleaning on my bookshelves and listing more, which has likely helped. :)

I haven't noticed that, but then, I did have my account on hold for a couple of weeks over the holidays and when I took it off, I immediately had 9 or 10 requests and have had another half-dozen or so since then.

Part of it, also, may just depend on your bookshelf. I know the first few months after I joined, I sent out oodles of books, but then when the "more desirable" books got sent and my shelf was left with a lot of books that had tons in the system already, things definitely slowed down to a more manageable pace.

You should try to keep your shelf "fresh" as well. That always helps.  I can tell when I haven't added new books lately cuz my orders slow down.

Actually, I have found that since New Years, I have been offered at least one Wish List book a day. And the rest of the lines are moving along. I've also mailed out 10 or 11 but I am concentrating on reading Wish List books right now to post.

I have a lot of wishlist books coming in, and I have wishlist books going out, but my shelf of old stuff is pretty stable.  I have tried running deals, but nobody wants them yet.  Their time will come when they can go to a new home.  They just need to wait a little bit longer :)

Same as Karen, but have been getting people accepting offers.

I have several WL books I'd like to send out in bulk and will post them to that BB forum soon.

I have had the opposite, nothing just before and during the holidays. Now requests are getting back to the normal 2-5 a week.

I had a slow December - intentionally - since I hadn't posted many books to my shelf since mid November. I finally got antsy about the books sitting here and posted them (about 60) on 12/31 and 1/1. Between those books and what I already had on my shelf, I received 32 orders within several days. Got everything mailed as of last Thursday, and since then have had orders for nine more books.

On the other side of things, four or five wishlist books have been sent to me recently, too. My WL is below 200 for the first time in months.

January is off to a flying start here. ;-)

1/11: Offered two more wishlist books today. I had been in line a long time for one of them, but the other (a biography of Gene Autry), I was one of one, and thinking the likelihood of it ever being posted was a longshot at best.

I can see orders slowing down because of people reading books they got for Christmas and not feeling the need to order any.  I know I've gotten 5 WL offers jsut this week.

I've sent out a lot of books but they were mostly WL books that I posted.  I got maybe 3 non-WL book orders in the last 2 wks. But my shelf has been on hold most of hte time because I posted some heavily posted books that I haven't read yet.

I've sent out 5 books in the last week that had been on my shelf since July.  I've also gotten a couple of WL books myself.

I have had 8 wish list books posted in the last week.  Hurrah!  I have not posted any new books in over a month so orders are down.  I did just get a request for books that I have had on my bookshelf for almost 2 years.  I was very happy to send them out.  I figure book orders will go up when I do a spring cleaning but that is a ways off.  I have points and stuff to read so it is not a high priority right now.  I would like to get my bookshelf below 200.

i did get a couple of requests just after Christmas, but haven't had any since.  i'm overdue for my annual TBR purge, which might freshed up my bookshelf some.  i've been posting mostly WL books, so the book posted most recently that's still on my shelf is from october.

however, i'm getting WL books posted to me at a very nice rate!  i have 3 on the way right now, and another 7 i have requested only one of which hasn't accepted yet.  several of those i've been #1 for a while, so maybe it's people posting the books they got for Christmas.  :)  i'm also up to #1 on another 5 books that have been released, so maybe some of those will get posted soon.

I've been here so long that at this point I'm mostly just swapping wish-listed books. I usually send (and receive) about 2 to 4 books a week no matter what the season.

It's so rare to have a book ordered from my tiny bookshelf that I'm kind of shocked when it happens. I guess even the most heavily posted books will eventually reach the top of the FIFO line.
