I tried to mail a book today and the clerk scanned the pre-printed tracking label and tried to send me on my way. I told her it wasn't paid for yet, so she tries again and can't do anything except charge me 60 cents instead of the 20 cents. She called the another post office and they couldn't do anything either. I've been to this P.O. and the only she called before and they did it with no problem. Did PBS change the 20 cent charge and no update the wrappers? |

It isn't PBS that has changed, it is the Post Office changing procedures. PBS has provided step-by-step instructions you can take to your post office if you're mailing a DC package.
Search the Help Center for "delivery confirmation" (without the " marks) and find the document called "How to mail your e-DC (PBS-DC, Custom DC) packages after 1/27/2013". The instructions are there.
Alternately, you can use printable postage or the APC and bypass the issues with the post office desk entirely.

AS Elizabeth mentioned, the changes are within USPS. The software upgrade that accompanied the January rate increase changed how USPS counter staff enter pre-printed tracking barcodes (formerly USPS e-DC). Unfortunately, most did not receive instruction as to how to properly enter the barcodes with the software upgrade. |

I ended up going to the big post office with the self service machine and printed postage. I believe it's a good sign that it hasn't been sent back to me with inadequet postage and that the other post office scanned the barcode with no problem. Oye! |
