Has anyone noticed the Fifo lines hardly move for YA books! HAHA!

I decided each week I'm going to post at least 1 book fifo!  Whose with me? Lets all document which books we post fifo each week for the heck of it! This can be a little YA challenge for all us YA readers out there.

Today I posted: Glimpse by Carol Lynch Williams

What have you posted this week for YA fifo?

I noticed the FIFO lines for all WL books don't seem to be doing much. Used to get a lot of WL books that way, but now it's weeks or more before I get anything.

FiFo=First in first out.  First person to request a wl book is the first person to receive it when someone puts the book in the PBS system.

I agree - I have some WL'd for my daughter and they never budge. Now we are WLing the Morganville Vampires - I am sure it will be the same.

My nephew is a YA librarian.  He says that YA books wear out almost twice as fast as adult books.  They just get used harder.  Shared more.  Piled into backpacks.

There is probably a high percentage that do not get re-posted.   (Some must actually be read by YA.)

My teen tends to re-read her favorites.  Very occasionally, she will tire of one and let me post it out, but I know that she has many on her bookshelves that are heavily WL'd.  I quite often hear, "Don't post that one yet, Mom!"  That could be another reason why the lines for YA move so slowly.  I usually just end up buying most of hers, getting them in ARC form, and putting the ones that I can on hold at the library.

Debbie - same way at our house.  I was rotating the books that I was bringing in for me and I got into trouble as she wasn't getting to read them.

It makes sense that teens hold on to the books.  YA books are often an emotional read.  Got to hold on to the book until you out grow it.

As a household without a YA, I try to post or put them in a game as soon as I'm done reading them.

I can tell you this my daughter loves this site! Most of what she gets she reads and gives it right back to me and then she can get another book.  It depend what she is reading whether I post wish listed books or not.  I just posted the second one in the hundred cupboard series. I don't remember the name of it.  I think the other think that is hurting the FIFO is the multiple wishlisted books. I know when we first started I could not order more than one book at a time due to a lack of credits, so if the multiple wishlisted books existed at that time I would never have gotten anything.  Jean

I posted a bunch of WL books this week, no YAs saving them for swaps and VB. YA books move a lot faster than most historical fiction. It can take years to get a book in HF.

My 13 YO won't let me post her books until she is desperate for space on her bookcase!  Right now she has about 30 YA WL books!  SHe does share them with friends, but I doubt she will ever re-read them.

Margaret ,

My daughter is the same way with her WL books, and I've asked if I could post them when I'm out of credits....Its always not right now.She also shares with friends. There has been some she's re-read but not all.

My daughter also go's through books so fast ,she read's faster than me. she's always asking for another book. Which ,is a good habit to have .I have friends who's kids wont pick up a book..  She is also inpateint  for WL books , I end up buying the ones that have a longer waiting list.

I posted a whole bunch FIFO last week, leftovers from my WL multiples list.  The only thing I don't like about FIFO is they take so long to accept sometimes.  I'm impatient to get books to people who are wishing for them.  :)

On the other hand, I get a lot of my wishes from FIFO, so I really can't complain.

The girls in our family read and reread their YA books.  In fact, one asked for my HB copies of the Hunger Games series so it's going to be a Christmas gift!
