I am almost finished with my copy of Quicksand, by Iris Johansen. I know that it is a wl item, and it was going to be posted tomorrow or Monday for some lucky person. However, my DD picked up my book today at the beach, and bestowed a renegade cheeto print on the outside of the pages. The fake orange color did not get inside the book, or mar the pages. It's about the size of a pencil eraser (her pinky print). I know that I have recieved books with mystery marks and ignored them, but I am afraid to post an expensive hardcover book that has only been read once and have someone unhappy, losing a credit in the process. What do you all think? Oh, and BTW...my dd was caught orange handed...she was not supposed to be in those cheetos! ;) |

Karen-- Oh, how frustrating (but Cheetos are so tasty ...). Technically, you're right: stains = unpostable. I'm assuming it didn't wipe off? Cheetos are pretty oily, and in addition to be cosmetically "unpretty", food stains can draw bugs that like to eat books, so there are other issues with food stains beyond being unsightly. I'm sure if you made an unpostable deal in the Book Bazaar, someone will snatch it up. Cheers, Catt Last Edited on: 8/10/08 1:35 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

You might try fine sand paper and see if you can sand off the offending Cheetoh remains. If its only on the very surface it might come off. If not, I am sure you would make someone's day by putting it as a freebie in the Book Bazaar Forum. If it's heavily wishlisted, you could always ask for someone to order 2 books from your shelf to have it as their freebie. |
