I have books to mail, the label says media rate is $2.81 , plus >18 for delivery confirmation.

I weigh the book and the rate says $2.47 for media mail, why the difference I understand the DC charge still needs to be added which is .18 I think We have a conmercial scale, I am in a business. I usually print 2 labels what the book weighs plus the additional for DC, but I can't make the scale print the 2.81 the label is reading because it will only print the weight of the book on the scale. I hope I haven't made this too difficult

Hope

PBS charges an additional fee if you use PBS-DC.  It's a way to keep the site up and running!

Yes I know that I have done this for a long time. The question is in regards to what PBS says I owe for postage verses what my business scale says, I believe the only charge is the .18 which is what the post office charges for DC. The ammont charged to me for PBS is taken out of my account and that shouldn't show on the label. What is showing is the ammont due for the postage media rate which is different than my scales weighs it and then .18 for DC.

Hope, there's also a .16 charge from Endicia to print the postage. Your charges would be $2.47 + .18 + .16 = $2.81 to print and use PBS DC (and then the PBS charge of .27)

From the Help Center:

How much does it cost?
  • The Printable Postage fee is 43 cents.
    • PBS gets 27 cents of this
    • Endicia, our printable postage provider, gets 16 cents.
  • The fee to USPS is 18 cents (for the electronic DC).
    • Delivery Confirmation is required by USPS for all printable postage, so the option to print postage without DC is not available.
