I have been on hold for almost 3 years. Before I knew all the weights and costs by heart - ist class and MM. If a book was under 13 oz and small,. it was a good idea then to send 1st class. Now I have NO idea what the rates are. I would always mail from home if under 13oz. I even weighed and calculated the postage and applied it to others before taking them to the PO. Does the PO still have the stipulation about 13 & over books being mailed from a PO? What are the rates by wt for 1st class up to 5oz. and MM? I appreciate any help.  Trying to get everything "together" so I can be active again may be more than I bargained for, but I'm going to try. I miss PBS greatly. I used to be a top trader. Spent all my credits except 2 during my down time. Reading was the one thing I COULD do! We are blessed!     Thank you    M'ann

Boy! I have been away a long time!!!!! When I first came aboard PBS the rate for sending a small MMPB was a dollar or less! I guess it's just age and forgetfulness catching up with me. Thank you for your help. That is so like the PBS membership I have encountered over the years of being here.      Blessings to all     M'ann

You're welcome!

Happy New!

A new year also means new postage rates.  I don't know if the rate increase is in January but it's in the works.

Wow!  Used to be a dollar or less for media mail!

Rates went up last May because we did NOT have the usual January increase. I would be surprised if they raise media mail in May, my guess is it won't go up until Jan 2017.

Thank you, evryone for your comments! I just have one more question. How do I get the less expensive "electronic mail" for forst class? Even after all this time, I'm not very computer savy, but I'mwilling to learn, especially with instructions like, "step 1, step 2, step 3,,etc." Can one tell that I'm a retired elementary teacher and like things easy to follow? Have patience with this realy elderly LOL!     Blessings    M'ann

M'ann, from what I just read  it's a steep rate increase. I don't have too much information right now but it doesn't look like the online postage will be  A money saver. I'm sure we will know more soon. Stay tuned!

How to buy electronic postage from PayPal

4/5/13

FYI and Prep

Must have a PayPal account and setup method of payment

USPS wants you to mail the SAME DAY as the date on the postage. If you want to mail tomorrow, change the date before you print. It all depends on if your local post office will give you any hassles.

You change the date before you print the postage. Sometimes your own firewall will block you from doing so.

HOW TO STEPS

Have address and package ready.

Weigh the package

Login to PayPal

Click Multi-Order Shipping

Wait for popup "Getting Started" to load

Create New Orders

Click Create

Click Shipping details

Service Type/ Package click the little divit icon

Choose:

First Class Mail Parcel
Package/Thick Envelope - I use this one!
Large Package

Or

Media Mail
Package/Thick Envelope - I use this one! DC 20¢
Large Package

Weight, click correct weight

Click Ship to address

Click from Address, enter your address 1 time, then it's ready every time you buy postage

Now you done with that part
I think you click save and close

You will be at a new screen

Click green box to review address and postage rate

If correct click print, (printer icon)

NOW is your chance to change date if needed
Right side click Mailing Date

When ready click pay and print (should be a drop down this time)

Wait for tracking to load

This is how to make 1 label. You can make several labels. I think after you enter the address you can make another order from the file or edit menu.

cut and tape label to package and put in mailbox or blue box or hand to PO worker and say "this is ready to go".
