I saw this news thread & I thought I'd share it here!  Hopefully none of our books take THIS long! :-P

Wow!  That beats the postcard I got this week.  It was a reminder for my dental appointment . . . the one I had back in November.  Who knows where it's been all this time . . . maybe stuck in that equipment or behind that mail chute . . . please tell me that they haven't been using the same equipment or not checked a mail chute in 47 years . . .

In the last three weeks,  I've experienced 3 lost books.  One book I mailed never reached its' destination, and two enroute to me never made it.  I mail my books from the local post office and do not purchase the delivery confirmation (though I may need to rethink this).  Both books that were mailed to me did have some tracing on them (such as leaving one Georgia Post Office and being received in another Georgia post office), but nothing beyond that.  I don't want to get a "slap on the wrist" from PBS when I really don't know what I can do differently.  I've been a member for about 8 months, with no problems, and now to have 3 problems in 3 weeks concerns me.  I did pm the last person whose book was taking a long time in route, but never heard back.

When I metioned the lost books to a postal worker when I was mailing other books, he said that USPS is really "cracking down" on media mail, and there could be some hold-ups because this mail may actually be randomly inspected.  If one of our books is selected for random inspection, it could add several days to the delivery time.

Has anyone else just started having problems?
