I am new here and have a question regarding a posted book.

There is a book that is listed on one person's wish list and the same book is listed as no copies posted, however, this book is posted on my bookshelf.  Why is it not being requested?

Thanks

It could be because the formats, and therefore the ISBNs, are different.  Maybe someone WL that book only wants a particular format.

It goes by ISBN.  Is the binding similar?  If the WL is for large print or audio then that's what they really want.  If the WL is for hardcover and you have a paperback that isn't heavily posted-you could try tagging the WL version with the ISBN of your version-something like "posted under xxx ISBN#"

You can see how many copies of your book are posted by putting it on your reminder list. If there's lots of copies then those people probably really want the WL version.  Sometimes people collect a specific cover series, book size (like tradesize over mass market paperback) or hardcovers with dust jackets over paperback.

PBS does send out an email when a similar version of a WL book is posted. But many people turn this off because it'll send them every day for every version posted.  And if you are wishing for a lot of large print or audiobooks the emails can get out of control.

You could post your WL book in one of the genre - WL Book with different ISBN.  You can also find it in the book bazaar.  Make sure you post in the Genre in the the red sticky if you can't find a thread like the one similar.  I also will tag the WL book with posted under (and add your ISBN number).

I had a book on my WL and when I logged on I noticed it had been posted that day.  I went to my WL and it was still there.

It was the same binding, mmpb just a different ISBN.  I ordered the one that had been posted and deleted the other from my WL.

Could be the same thing with your book, same binding just a different ISBN.  As jubead said you can post it in the Genre and the Book Bazaar as something with a different ISBN.

You could also note it in your siggy and eveyr time you post people will see it.

Thank you all for your input.  I am getting more savvy with the site and will hopefully swap soon.

Thanks to everyone helping us 'newbies'.  :-) Based on your comments about WL's I checked mine out.  I clicked on the author and was able to immediately order one of the books I have had wish listed for months!  I never thought about the different ISBN/formats.  I also got further up a list on a newer, very popular book because I didn't know there were two versions.

You guys just made my day!!! Happy me!
