Hello! I'm new here and I'm not sure how or when I can swap books. I've just posted the books that I have, and I'm looking to get other books from members. When I search for the books, I do not see how I can contact the person whom the book belongs to. All I see is "add to wish list" and such things like that. Can someone help me on how to get books? Thank you! |

http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/help_index.php Hi there. Welcome to trading. Your best bet is to start at the beginning. Link above. The first topic on the right hand side is "I just joined. Where do I start?" http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/help_item.php?id=1 is specifically about ordering books. Last Edited on: 2/14/12 6:02 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Welcome! Taci! Books that say "add to wishlist" aren't available right now. When you add them to your wishlist, you get in line for them. The links that Sara posted will explain everything.

Just above this thread is a red one labeled Tips for New Members. That thread has a lot to tips.

I think of the books here as being divided into two categories. If a book has an "order" button, it is available now on some member's bookshelf somewhere. These are the posted books. When you order a posted book, your order goes to the member who has been waiting the longest to send it. The other books are the wish list books. We get in line for those. Instead of an "order" button, there's the smaller button to add the book to our Wish List. When someone posts a WL book, it is immediately offered to the member who has been waiting longest in the wish list line, and then everyone else moves up a notch. If you are looking for new releases, a lot of those are wish list books for a while. Eventually, members who went out and bought the book will start posting them intothe system and the wish list line will get shorter and shorter. Finally there will be an "order" button instead of a "+ WL" button.

Don't be discouraged by long WL lines. They move. Welcome. |
