I recently ordered five audio books from one person at full credit value (10 credits.)  Today she pm'd me and said that she forgot to mention that one of the sets is missing a tape.  She says they've been mailed and that the others who ordered from her didn't mind that the tape was missing.  I do mind and would not have ordered the set if I'd known there was a problem.

In my opinion, the set is unpostable if a tape or CD is missing - right?  I'm thinking that when they arrive I will mark RWP.  Or I could ask for a return of one or both credits.  I'm just not sure.  Any ideas?

Yes, they are unpostable with a tape or CD missing.  Definitely look the sets over when they arrive and RWAP any that are missing tapes or CDs.  I'd ask for my credits to be returned, both of them, for any incomplete sets.  If the sender wants the incomplete set returned, they need to give you another credit to cover the postage.

Isn't posting an audio book with a missing tape like posting half a book? That's a big "oops, I forgot to mention"... I doubt that was accidental.

Yes, absolutely RWAP any that are missing a tape or CD.

I find it impossible to believe that there is anybody out there who would want the book with a missing tape -- even for free -- much less pay two credits for it.

In fact, even if someone were to pay me to take them, I still wouldn't want them. Just like I don't want any books with 1/4 or 1/5 of the pages missing.  :)

I listen to many audio books and occasionally, there's an extra tape or disc, with extra material, such as an author interview or something like that.  Even though I feel this swap should be marked RWAP and you should ask for both of your credits to be returned, hopefully the missing tape isn't part of the story.   You "paid" two credits for the complete set and you should receive the complete set.

Geesh. I have an audio book with I think 7 of 12 or 10 of 15 CDs, something like that.  It's missing the start and is non-fiction so I thought someone might like it, but I couldn't give it away.  It never occurred to me to post it here or charge for it.

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm going to mark RWAP and get the credits back when the sets arrive.

I order a lot of audiobooks and I would mark it RWP.  It even states in the rules that audiobook require all the tapes/cds they came with even if they don't have the original box anymore.  Telling you after the fact does not obsolve her of sending an unpostable book.

Since she PMed you, I wouldn't wait until they arrive to mark them RWAP. I'd reply to her now and tell her that's what you plan on doing because you expect (and PBS guidelines state) that all CDs/tapes should be included when ordering an audio book. Tell her you expect to receive your credits back (in order to mark that the problem has been resolved), and ask if she would like you to return the incomplete audio book to her.
