Just curious what everybody else would do....  I'm sitting here debating...I have a book in great condition except for some edge wear, some 1/4" tears and a small (1/4" x 1/2") piece missing from the top edge.  Would you post this?  It's an older (1985)  theology book.

If the tears are on the dust jacket, the I would send it along. The dust jacket is not required for swapping. As for edge wear, that is to be expected from an older book. I always ask this question when I am debating postablility...."would I mind if I recieved this book from another member?"..Then I will post accordingly. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

This IS a USED book swap site.  The books cannot be expected to be in perfect condition...although I've received some that look brand new.  As long as a book "passes" the conditions rules test, you should be fine.

Edge wear is perfectly OK. The only thing that would be questionable would be stains or dirt on the edges ... if there are stains or dirt that cannot be removed (with a little sandpaper is how I do it), then the book would be unpostable.

The dustjacket can be in any condition at all, or absent altogether, UNLESS the requestor has an RC specifying that they want a dustjacket on the book, in which case, the dustjacket must follow the postability rules for a paperback cover (no rips or tears larger than 1 inch, no water damage, no stains, etc). In the absence of a RC, then the dustjacket can be in any condition.

As others have said, if it passes the site's posting conditions it is perfectly fine to post. When you refer to edge wear make sure it is edge wear and not soiling/dirt. The biggest problem I have is people trying to pass off soiled books because they are used and calling it wear.

Often when I find myself questioning a book, I ask myself if the book's over all accumulation of little postable issues add up to it no longer being in overall good condition and if its something that I would be disappointed receiving then I usually offer it in the Bazaar or donate it somewhere.

Everyone said everything perfectly---I am only trying to grasp the concept of a book from 1985 being older>LOL , slowly shaking my head and wondering My recent favorite find is from 1962 . I am really feelin old now,,,,,
