I recently posted a book set, childrens books. isbn 1416913025. this set has several books in it. my question is, it does NOT have the little box with the handle, just the books. i got a request for it, the person likes to give their books sometimes as gifts. I am thinking they may want the box. do i reply does not meet request? also, is there a way for me to add a comment about this book set that I have posted to say there is no box? help! marniecat68@yahoo.com

Well, when I looked it up on Amazon, it lists that ISBN as a "carry along boxed set." Since you are posting the ISBN for the boxed set, I would personally say it's not really kosher if it doesn't actually have the box. I'm not sure about this--did you search the help docs? I know that if you are sending a book that has 'other materials' like an accompanying CD or tape, those have to be included when you send it, so I'm thinking this would apply in your case too...perhaps one of the tour guides knows better, though...this is just my personal interpretation.

As far as tagging it with a condition note, we're not to make tags or notes to address one specific item's condition since that note then follows every copy in the system. PBS works by FIFO (first in, first out) and thus expects anything posted to your bookshelf to be in postable condition.

I would personally post each book individually if the books have an ISBN.., or post a deal on it in the book bazaar, explaining there that it's a complete set without the carry-along box.

You can send the requester a PM and let them know that the set of books is complete, but the original box that once held them is gone. Do they still want the books? Then you can turn down the RC; if they don't want the set.

First, you do know that posting a boxed set as a set to one ISBN gets you only one credit right? You won't be getting a credit for each book by posting it that way. You'd need to post each book individually to get a credit per book.

Second, it's not a good idea to post your email address on an open forum on the internet. People can talk to you through the forum or the PM system here.

As for the box. I would consider that nonmedia content. On PBS any nonmedia that is originally sold with a book that is not required to use the book is not to be expected with the book when it is swapped. The Team has said before that people shouldn't expect nonmedia items to still be with used books and I would think the box to a boxed set would fall into that category and they have said that it doesn't matter if the listing says it is included - a requester should know the site doesn't require it to be included if it is nonmedia and they shouldn't expect it(I have asked lots of questions on this topic because I don't necessarily agree with that stancecheeky but it IS the Team's stance on it). You could always use the Contact Us link in the lower right under Company to get a more official answer on boxes to sets.
