you would need to have them add you as a buddy and open up their WL to their buddies before you can post directly to them.  HTH!

If they have a WL, and you can't see it, it's something in their account settings preventing that.  Inbox them and tell them to go to their account settings, and under "privacy controls", they need to change their WL setting to public.

From there - If they use any of the discussion forums, at the top of every person's post here, you should see tabs for their bookshelves, wishlist & PMs.  Or put them on your buddy list, and you can just  click on their WL from there.   When you find the book you want to offer them on their wishlist, just click on the "post this book" tab.  That should bypass the FIFO system and send the WL offer directly to that person.  I always double-check this under my main account page however, just to be sure.  If you look at your WL holds list, and click on the PM tab, check the name it's going to and make sure it's right.  If it's not, you'll have to cancel the offer and try again.  This hasn't happened to me yet, but I've heard that it has happened.

Oh - edit to add...  I may have gotten this wrong, but I think under the new buddy list system, you can opt for which buddies you allow to see certain things on your profile, or your profile itself  (if you don't want it visible to everyone).  I'm not certain about that; I've never tried it, but there's a setting for full buddies, or "buddy lite", which limits what buddies can see about your account.

They don't have to be your buddy to post to their WL.  But they do have to have their WL public.  If they want the book from you, they'll have to make it public.  At least for long enough for you to post the book. Make sure you post it on their WL and not from the book description page.

Yeah, if I'm reading it correctly, it has to be one or the other.  This is from the help docs on the buddy list section:

New Privacy Settings:

These privacy options are available from the link Privacy Controls at the top of the Settings page in My Account.

  • You can decide who sees what in your account, including information about your:
    • Profile
    • Last login
    • personal info (age, city/state, email address, telephone number, Mailing address)
    • Lists (Bookshelf, Wish List, Buddy List, Reviews, transactions)
    • Online status
  • Each of the above will have a setting you can assign:
    • Public (any member can see)
    • All Buddies (Full and Lite Buddies can see)
    • Full Buddies (only Full Buddies can see)
    • Private (nobody can see)

You can assign Full Buddy/Lite Buddy status from the bottom of the Privacy Controls page.  Your Buddies will not know if they are Full or Lite Buddies on your Buddy List.  No Buddies will be able to see your Buddy List tags.

So either you've opted to have your profile (which includes the WL) public, or you only allow your buddies to see it.  Otherwise, there's no other way (that I know of) that someone can make WL offers to you through the system.  You should also make sure this person knows you're making the offer, because if they decide they don't want the book, it goes back to FIFO, and the offers passes on to the 1st person who has it on their WL.

You need to post it to their WL.  You'll have to pm them if it's not displayed.  Try adding them as a buddy first and you may be able to see the WL.
