This morning I finished off one of the books I had on hold on my bookshelf. When I went to check the ticky box next to the book to post it I noticed that it had the "WA" (waitlist, autorequest) symbol next to the book. I clicked to post the book and saw that it came off the list (it was right at the top of the list so it was easy to see). I clicked over to my account page so I could go ahead and mark that I would send it, and the request wasn't there. I wondered if for some reason it was on that "grace period" even though it was an autorequest so I went back to my bookshelf and now the posted book is listed there and it looks like there are no "wishers" for the book. Is this a glitch or just a case of two people posting a book at exactly the same time?
ETA: I just put the book on my reminder list and found out there are 11 copies in the system so it can't be a case of two books posted at the same time. Why did I get the waitlist symbol on this book? Last Edited on: 1/2/10 9:46 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

It's a glitch that happens sometimes. |

Hmmmmm...... That's a good one. Probably be a glitch. But it actually COULD still be a case of 2 books posted at the same time if the wisher had some heavy duty RC's and cycled through many offers. Then someone posted just before you and their book was offered. That would take it off the WL until the offer is accepted or declined. I have seen that sort of thing before. I posted a WL book, had to turn down a strict RC, then realized my book was 5th in FIFO. Possible, but seems like a glitch is more likely.

That would work if there were not already 11 copies in the system, the odds of 12 at one time are slim. I have seen that glitch on more than one occasion. I haven't been able to come up with a reason why it sticks unless it has to do with members' accounts on hold. Send in Feedback and let them know if the Wa is still there, that way they can fix it. |
