I've looked at the FAq and could not find an answer to my question. I've seen others on the forums mention posting a book directly to an individual's WL (like when they want to post a WL directly to a Buddy and thus circumventing FIFO). How is this done? Thanks! |

I haven't done it yet, but if you look at someone's wish list and hover your mouse over a "post this book" button by a book on their list, it reads "post this book into the system for THIS member". So, I believe it would go only to them - but surely someone will confirm.

if you look at someone's WL, you'll see Post This Book buttons next to each book. if you click the button there, you're posted directly to that person's WL rather than FIFO. you can use the link to make sure all the details match before doing that, or verify the details on the post screen to make sure you're sending the exact one requested. |

Post if from their main WL page not the book's info page. It should say when you're posting it-you are posting this book to so and so's WL. Occassionally it'll still put the book to FIFO. But most of the time it'll go right to the person you want it to if you do it from their WL page. I made the mistake earlier of not taking my account of hold when I posted a WL book to someone. When I took the account off hold it put it to FIFO. |

Side note in view of the drastic changes underway for the New Wish List: I was reading the section dealing with posting directly to someone's WL when I came across this interesting sentence: "We hope that members do not do this too often, as FIFO is really the fairest way of swapping books." Amen! |

Well, personally if I have a book and it is on the WL of one of my buddies I'm going to post it to their WL but, if none of them have it there (usually only about 50%) I post it to FIFO and I get alot of my books that way....the reason is that I personally like sharing with my buddies is that I know I will get quality books, marked promptly, etc etc....I also look specifically for books that are on my buddies' WL when I am out browsing books. |

Could they have changed things in the space of a day? I posted a book FIFO and it's been requested - I checked the requester's wishlist and they also have the sequel on their WL...I'd prefer to send both books to the same person - I just think it's easier that way, but there's no button that says "post this book" anymore. My only choices are BIR, RL, and WL. Am I missing something or is this another one of the "improvements"? |

Jillian, does the requestor have her account on hold? She could have put it on hold in the space of a day. That will make the Post this Book button disappear off a WL. Or she had it on hold all along, but the book you posted is on AR, and the other book (the sequel) isn't. You can check if she's on hold by looking at her bookshelf tab.

if the account is on hold, you could always PM them and ask if they want the next in the series. if so, ask them to take their shelf off of hold (assuming it is on hold) and then post it directly to their WL. I normally throw it all in the FIFO system but when I have had the first 2 books in a series I will wait for someone to accept the first and if they have the 2nd on their WL post it directly to them or PM and ask them if they want it. Usually they do so it is a nice way to save on postage! |

Thanks ladies! Her shelf was indeed on hold. I've PM'd her. |

The trick to posting to someone's wishlist is to be sure, before you click "post this book," that is says "Mathilda's Wishlist" (or whatever the name is) up at the top of the page. If you click anywhere else first, like on the book title to remind yourself what the book is about, don't post the book from there or you'll be posting to the FIFO order. |
