I'm new at this. Do I get more credits for posting more books. What is the criteria regarding this?

You get one credit for each book that is ordered from your shelf.  (I believe audio books are two credits)

The number of books on your shelf does not matter.  When you start, they gift you two if you post a minimum of ten books.  After that, you earn credits when books are ordered.

From the help center....

List your first 10 books.

  • You'll get 2 "start-up" credits, as a gift from us!
  • After the first 10, posting more books will not earn you credits from the system
  • After getting your 2 "start-up" credits, you can earn further credits by sending out books or referring new members.

Find some more books to post!  That way, people have something to order from you.  Every book order, you'll earn a credit.

I know when you're new to the site, it seems like you'll never get enough credits to get the books you want.  Just post every book you can find, people will request your stuff.  To make your credits go further, check out the Book Bazaar forum.  You can get 2 or 3 or more books for one credit there.

While we are on the topic, I have requested two books with my two "free" credits.  This was a couple of days ago, and I am still "waiting for member" to confirm that they will send them.  is this normal?  I hate to bother the member with a PM, but I'd like to get these books, yanno?

Also, a book i posted was on someone's wishlist, but I get this message:

Reserved on:  1/26/09:  9:00 pm

Status: waiting 48 hours for other member to confirm that the have the credit for this book.

Methinks that I have encountered a few members that don't get on the site regularly.  Any advice?

When I've gotten that message, I assume the person has book(s) sent out that should arrive any day, so is waiting (up to 48 hrs) to get those credits before purchasing one?

Be patient? ;-)

The system is set up so that not having access to the internet every day does not inhibit a person from being a member. To still be "waiting on member" is not unusual, but it does not always happen. The system gives them five days, if they don't respond the order gets passed on to the next person who has posted that book. As long as there are copies in the system you will get one eventually, if there is only the one copy I believe the book gets moved to your wishlist.

Similarily, if the person who has the book you posted on their wish list does not respond within the time period, it will go on to the next person in the wish list line.

Unfortunately there are a few "dead" accounts out there and sometimes requests get ignored. Do NOT cancel the book request and reorder-it'll just go to the same person.

Sometimes people let a request sit for a few days because they either need to get closer to payday, are busy and just want a few extra mailing days, keep their books in storage and need to go get it first or they don't have computer access everyday.  I've let requests sit before because I have posted a WL book that is going through a few people and I only want to make 1 trip to the PO.
