When you post a book to another person's wish list, does that person know you did it? Or do they just get the same "wish granted" message as anyone else?

Well they don't know who it's from until they look at the PM icon OR receive the book.  There is never any indication that it was posted directly to their wish list.   Some member keep a close watch on their wish list and if they are 12 or 112 on the list and all of a sudden they get the book - it's a pretty good bet it was posted to their wish list.    I'd never know because I don't know where I am on the wish list for my books.

I just put a book on my wishlist on Monday. I was 5 of 5. Today I was offered the book. That's why I was curious. :-)

The other four people might have had Requestor's Conditions which the book didn't meet, and it got bumped to you.

Yep, it's very possible that it has just worked its way down to you already. I posted a wishlist book that had eight wishers, now it only has five, and two of those are people whose RCs I had to decline because the book did not meet them. That means the person it is being offered to now was probably fifth on the list when I first posted it.

I have a book on the wish list w/ a diff. ISBN #, how to let s.o.know I have a slightly diff version of the book on the list?  How do I know who posted a book on the WL?

Angie if the binding is similar then I would tag the WL version with the ISBN of yours.  I say if the bidning is similar because if the WL is for large print or audio then that's probably what they really want. But sometimes people will take hardback over paperback or vice versa. Just put a tag saying "x # posted under ISBN XXX"

Some of those WL lines move pretty quickly.  Some books are constantly on and off WL. I've received a WL book that had 30+ people in line for it when it arrived.  I read it and reposted it within 2 wks-by then there were 30 copies posted.  I just went to post a book a had offered in a game so I could use hte Mail To a Friend option.  There were 4 copies in the system when I offered the book about 2 wks ago.  Imagine my suprise when I pull up the listing and it's a WL book now.  So I had to use a dummy book to use the Mail to a Friend option although I suppose I could just used the Custom DC.

Mary, couldn't you just post it directly to their wish list?  And yes, you probably could have used the Custom DC option, it's handy.

It was a non credit transaction for a game.  The games require DC.   I've never used the custom DC, I've always just posted the book or a dummy book. I like seeing it there in it's own tab.  I don't know if the custom DC does that.
