I have a box set of three books that I wanted 3 credits for, so I posted a thread in Book Bazaar.  Someone contacted me and wants to trade the credits for my box set.

At least one of the books is WL'd, so if I put them on my Bookshelf, person would not be able to request it because of FIFO line.

How should I handle this?  I've heard that you can post directly to someone else's WL, so member could put them on their WL, and I could post books directly to her?  How are the credits handled in that situation?  Do they automatically come out of member's credits when I post the books to her WL, or will she need to buddy the credits to me?

Yes, the other member can put the WLed book on their WL and you can then look at her wishlist and post the book directly to it.  Make sure when you do that the page say that you are posting to them.  For the other books, if they are not wishlisted, put them on your shelf and have the member request them.  The system will give you a credit for each book requested either way.

Robin--

Have your friend put the books on their Wishlist, making sure they're using the same ISBNs that you have.  Then, go to their wishlist via their profile and, while looking at their Wishlist, click on "Post this Book".

Or, as the Help Center puts it:

"If you have a book that is on someone's personal Wish List, then all you need to do to offer that book directly to that member (and NOT to the first person on the Wish List) is to go to the member's Wish List and click the "Post This Book" button there.  Be sure the ISBN on your book matches the ISBN on her Wish List!

  • Your book will be offered to that member first, no matter where she is in the Wish List for that book.

  • If that member does not request the book, it will then be offered to the first person on the wish list and continue to be offered until someone requests it or until it is Posted into the general library.

We hope that members do not do this too often, as FIFO is really the fairest way of swapping books, but they are YOUR books, and we wanted to offer this option to members who wished to use it." [italics theirs]

Cheers,

Catt
