The Practical Book of Built-In Furniture Author:Henry Lionel Williams This is a basic how-to book designed for the beginner in home carpentering and cabinetmaking as well as the advanced do-it-yourselfer. Both will find it an exceedingly useful and practical guide to constructing beautiful built-in furniture for every room in the house.
Obviously an older book and a lot of the ideas probably wouldn't suit homes built after 1980 or so. BUT, if you are restoring or renovating a mid-century home, this is a great book for getting ideas about scale and styles for older homes. Even if you do have a newer home, some of the ideas are still worth considering (albeit with cosmetic updates) because they are practical: I found that I began thinking about what was possible in different ways by looking at ideas from 50 years ago.
