Though I have seen a few Media Maul and mail slowness stories on these forums, I personally have been impressed with (in general) how quickly Media Mail travels. I am in awe of how quickly the latest book I mailed from NC to TX arrived at it's recipient.  I meant to mail the book from the Post Office on Friday, but my day got away from me.  (I usually mail from the PO to make sure the weight is correct.)  I really didn't want to drive to the PO on Sat. morning, but figured I'd better because the PO would be closed both Sunday and Monday.  Luckily I found the right combination of stamps in my house, put them on the wrapped book and stuck it in my mail box before the Saturday pick-up.  The book arrived at its destination on Tuesday - an amazing feat considering the Monday holiday!  Go Media Mail!

I received two book orders that had been mailed Friday by media mail.  One from New Hampshire and the other from Oregon.  I received a thank you from someone in New Mexico who received a book I sent Friday to New Mexico.  Maybe the holday speeded up the mail.  No other mail traffic so our books were flying down the highway!

I prefer to mail on Thursdays or Fridays, books seem to move much faster for me if I do,

Your're right, Valerie -- can't believe how many times I'll receive a book (or have it marked received) in 2 or 3 days.  When you think of how many pieces of mail they move, it's amazing!

I had luck with media mail this week as well. I mailed a book on Friday from C.A. to NC and she got it today.

I guess this just proves media mail can be a success!

I remember when media mail was horrendously slow near the beginning of the year. But my last 5 transactions have arrived in 4 days or less to destinations more than halfway across the country. That's equivalent to 1st class. Way to go USPS!! Unfortunately, there is talk of numerous post office closings...hopefully that won't affect the string of speediness, but I'm doubtful.
