"Preacher's Girl" by Jim Schutze is a riveting read! It's a solidly written account of
Blanche Taylor Moore of North Carolina, and several men that loved her, including the high price they paid.
It's startling how this woman could dispose of people she no longer felt necessary in her life, and remained oblivious to how they suffered. Most were men whose only crime was loving and trusting her.
This was my favorite kind of book - hard to put down!!!

If you like true crime, you will love this book.....not much court room drama.
Having the distinct "pleasure" of meeting Ms. Moore, during her incarceration, I was extremelly interested in reading this book. After reading the true account, and personally knowing her, it is easy to see how Blanche got away with such a murderous trail. With a voice as sweet as a bird and barely above a whisper...behind this "sweet little lady facade" is a deadly cold and calculated murderer. Great book to read and great insight to a seemlingly harmless woman; even if you do not personally know Blanche or her victims...this books makes for a wonderful read. I would, however, love to see a follow-up of some sort concerning Mr. Dwight Moore...who continued (and to my knowledge) STILL continues to visit Blanche in prison. His life story and his devoutness are inspirational and would make a exhilarating read!
Blanche Taylor Moore was a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother, a born-again Christian. She was also a paragon of Southern womanly virtue whose husband - the Reverend Dwight Moore - was suddenly stricken with an inexplicably violent, wasting disease. As the doctors tried to diagnose the Reverend Moore's illness, the community admired Blanche's concerned care for her husband. She constantly was at the hospital, tending to him with loving care by wiping his brow and making him her delicious peanut butter milkshakes.
I thought this book was extremely interesting; I had never heard of this particular case before, but was drawn in by Mr. Schutze's discussion of Blanche's various crimes and her psychopathy. It was an interesting look at the makings of a psychopath. I give this book an A+!
