A friend of mine had just started trying to write their own stories and participates in nanowrimo... I really want to get them something special for Christmas but don't really know what an author might need or want besides a word processing program. Any suggestions would be appreciated :) thank you

Maira Kalman has a really lovely illustrated version of Strunk & White.  The Transistive Vampire is also lots of fun.

Try Levenger.com  it has alot of writer type supplies.. A nice pen or pencil set with notecards is always helpfull.

They also have this Circa brand stuff that lets you customize your notebooks and most writers drool over it..LOL

You could also buy her a NaNO tshirt or donate to that site in her name :)
