I read this book while vacationing in South Florida. The writer is a local. Lives near the Palm Beach's.

The story takes place in South Florida so Mr. Burke knows the area well and it shows in the book. It also shows his experience from the two government agencies that he once worked for.

The story is about a lost man, Pat Morley, after the death of his wife, who is just waiting for something to bring him back. He befriends Dan, an elderly man from up north, who is connected with the mafia. The closer Morley gets the more Dan trusts him. When Dan provides an opportunity for Morley to collect a package, Morley realizes who he is connecting with. The story begins when Dan is gunned down while in Chicago on a routine trip. Morley was to pick up a package and drop it off but after the death of Dan, Morley holds the drop off and opens the package. The package contains 2.2 million of the Mafia's money. With Morley knowing that only Dan knew about him he takes the money and leads the Mafia on a chase to find him.

The book is fast paced and entertaining. It was hard to put it down but was worth the read.
Give it a shot.
