This was an excellent book. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys presidential history. It is about the role former presidents play and their relationships with the sitting president and each other. For me it humanized the presidency.

I found that I liked some presidents whose politics/policies I couldn't stand when they were in office. My opinion of Nixon remains the same....smart man but lacked character and I found Carter, a man who has been much more effective during his post-presidency to be just plain irritating. But the rest, I learned facets of their personalities that increased my respect for them as individuals and the office of the presidency.

Please note that this book is primarily about 20th and 21st century presidencies although there are references to lessons learned from previous ones especially Lincoln's. Highly recommend reading or it would be a great one to listen to.
