OK, so I just read my first book by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child (w/ Pendergast & D'Agosta).... LOVED it!  Does anyone know if Relic is the first in their series with those characters?  (I just read Dance of Death)

Thanks!

Lynn

I believe that Relic is the first.  These are excellent books, and well worth the effort of getting them all!

FYI - each author also has a couple of books outside the writing partnership.  I can recommend those also!

Here's a link to the authors' website that lists all of their books in choronological order.  I have only read the Diogenes series and LOVED them.

There are eight books in the series at present, with a ninth due out next summer. Pendergast and D'Agosta do first work together in Relic, followed by its sequel, Reliquary; these books also introduce some of the other regular characters. The authors wrote some stand alone titles after that, but got back to Pendergast in Cabinet of Curiosities, the first one I read, and then Still Life With Crows. Then the Diogenes trilogy starts with Brimstone, which also reunites Pendergast with D'Agosta, and on through the one you've just read, followed by Book of the Dead. The latest one is Wheel of Darkness, which is a little bit lighter in tone. I enjoyed it, there are some great scenes with Pendergast, but I did miss the rest of the characters.

I haven't read any of the author's solo works yet, but two other of their collaborations were pretty good. If you ever want to know more about Eli Glinn, for instance, check out Ice Limit; and Thunderhead features Nore Kelly and Smithback.

It's a really great series. Hope you enjoy exploring it.

I love the books they write together, but have to say I don't feel the same way about their solo endeavors.  Didn't enjoy "Deep Storm" by Child very much, although readers give it high marks on Amazon.com.  To each his own...  :-)   I felt it took a long time to really get going, and was pretty predictable.

Preston has a new solo book out (Blasphemy), but the premise (particle accelerator/recreat big bang/creation of the universe) just doesn't grab me, and it gets pretty poor reviews from readers on Amazon.com.

Although the last joint book was kinda disappointing (The Wheel of Darkness), I look forward to the next one!

my 1st and absolute favoritest of all is the Cabinet of Curiosities; but I have read all but can't say I have enjoyed all of them not near as much as this one.
