A superior Western from an academically respected writer. Pretty Horses works well just as an entertaining Western novel: the plot moves you along as two (later three) young men strike out to find adventure in 1949 Mexico.

Good tapes. Brad Pitt is the narrator and his voice goes well with the subject. I find audio books make commuting a pleasure, and this tape is no exception.

With the amount of driving - I'm an avid audio-book consumer. I really enjoyed this book by Cormac McCarhty and audiocassette reading by actor Brad Pitt. This was a superb book which I highly recommend.

The best way to get the beauty of McCarthy's language. A great love story and a great buddy story all in one.

What a surprise! This is a beautifully written book by a master of the English language. I can see why it is a prize winner. But this only adds to an interesting story of two young Texas boys off on an adventure in Mexico during the early 1940s. Try it - you'll like it!
