I almost died when I got to the end of this book and realized it was a cliffhanger! I was so mad at the author because I wanted to read the rest of the story and had to wait three months for the continuation to come out!!! Thsi was a great read, nevertheless and I highlyt recommend it. (But you have to get "The Blood of Roses" or else you will scream when you get to the ending that really isn't an ending!)

This wasn't bad, an historical romance leading up to the Stuart uprising in 1746 Scotland. I must admit, throughout the book I found many similarities to Gone With the Wind (I have a feeling the author was a big fan of it, instead of the Civil War she has subsituted Culloden) Aside from constantly comparing her hero to Rhett Butler, and having her heroine wear pantalettes under her crinoline skirts (umm, that happened 100 years later) I enjoyed this book and her battle descriptions were vivid and riveting. Looking forward to the sequel.

Excellent book. Be sure to have The Blood of Roses, the next book in the series in hand when you finish this book.
This book begins the love affair between Catherine and Alexander but also sets the stage for the political events that lead to the Jacobite War.

Great book! Catherine Ashbrooke was used to having things her own way until she came up against Alexander Cameron then the sparks flew!
