Does anyone use a label printer for book labels?

Some people do, although I never have. Are you having a specific problem?

The last thing I want is another computer peripheral that could cause problems, require maintenance or software upgrades. From the early 80s into the 90s, as I was establishing computer standards for state university offices statewide, I was into all that stuff.  Eventually, I learned that the best computer solution was one having the simpliest configuration.  If you have to do a little more work with your hands, it more than makes up for all the problems extra equipment can cause that you can't personally fix. Less is more. It's also cheaper.

As far as paper costs to print labels on...... Well, I don't have any. So many people send you paper in the mail you can use the backs of, as they are mostly blank. Plus, I had friends still working who saved paper---with one side blank---their companies were tossing. I also volunteer at a thrift store where people donate paper---don't ask me why---which has one side printed with bills, reports, credit statements, etc., and the other side blank. These become the labels I use to mail books to other PBS members. If you received a book with the back side of the lable with text and/or an image of an insect or animal, it probably came from me.

I also use the back side of of paperwork received with books for labels. I use less tech stuff than most and find no hardship in simply handwriting a label and saving 55¢ in the process.

I use a thermal label printer, Patti. But I also use a third-party postage supplier (Pirateship). I love the convenience of both even though I don't ship as many books as I used to. Still, I ship stuff regularly all year long.
