Priscilla and the Great Santa Search captures all the magic of Christmastime and the spirit of a child's fascination with the almighty Santa Claus.
Pink-clad Priscilla's name is splashed across the cover in huge red glitter letters, and the kitschy cartoon artwork continues the red and pink overkill as the girl and her best friend head to the North Pole to meet Santa. Topknots and bows decorate the heads of these Kewpie dollish, always-fashionable little girls. They plan their trip, taking along their lapdog, tea set, and other necessities as they ski cross county due north. They meet some interesting creatures and endure a class-seven squall, but return home without a Santa sighting. The ever-effervescent duo seems satisfied with the hint of a reindeer-drawn sleigh in the background of one of the photos, but readers who have slogged through this journey described in singsong rhyme will be sorely disappointed.–Lisa Falk, Los Angeles Public Library
"Priscilla and the Great Santa Search is a creative and entertaining addition to the Priscilla series and is a "must-have" for young girls this Christmas season! Disappointed by the fake Santas at the mall Priscilla, never one to pass up an adventure, and her friend Bettina set out to find the real Santa at the north pole. Along the way the rhyming text introduces us to creatures "on the top of the oddity chart". Braving a storm and snapping pictures with their digital camera the girls make it to the North Pole but do they find Santa? Only after zooming in on their pictures do we find the answer. My niece was thoroughly entertained and loves all of the Priscilla books. The text is fun to read and the pictures are beautiful!"
