A look at the penal system in Scotland in 1861 plus romance. Good Read

This is the first Monk book I've read. I usually prefer the steamier historic novels (such as Susan Johnson), but this was actually a very pleasant read. Nice story line with an interesting mix of characters. Two love scenes.

First in a series a fun and quick read.
Haydon Kent is a convicted murderer, hiding out with the orphans &their mistress, Genevieve McPhail. She is desperate for money to feed her orphans; he must clear his name.
