This book gave me nightmares. I am not exaggerating. I am in the habit of reading for twenty minutes or so before I sleep. If you are also in that habit don't make this your book to go to sleep with. It is hard to imagine being inside Hustler and getting paid is worse than owning and reading a Hustler in the privacy of your own home. But it is very clear that this is the case.

From the drugs to the leftover weirdos and hippies from the founding of Hustler and Larry Flynt's empire. This book is one long cringe. It is as if Allan MacDonnell slept walked through 20 or so years just waiting to be fired so he could do something that didn't tax his morales so much.

Okay, having said that I must admit I finished it all the way to the end. I just stopped reading it before I slept. It is a fascinating look behind a megalomaniac's empire. It is very interesting to follow Allan's rise from the bottom of the barrel to running the show.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys reading first person accounts of behind the scene action. This is your book. I give it four stars.
