Maggie Gladstone is desperate when she hires a private detective to investigate the strange happenings at her Bed and Breakfast on the Washington coast. She believes someone is sabotaging her Inn and she needs to know why. But when Joshua January shows up, telling her that he will solve the case, Maggie doesn't believe him. Nursing a sprained ankle and bruised ribs, Josh looks like he needs a long rest instead of a new case. Maggie doesn't know if he is up to the test.
Cute contemporary romance which seemed somewhat dated. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
This is a 3 stories in 1 book. Fast fun read.
Private Eye Josh January is no hero, but he'll fake it for Maggie Gladstone. His last case almost killed him and she's offering a much-needed vacation in return for investigating strange goings-on at her inn. The job should be a cinch. Seducing Maggie-a bonus. But when the accidents turn deadly serious, playing the hero could cost Josh a very high price.
Also includes 2 additional tales of romantic suspense by Dani Sinclair and Julie Miller. 347 pages total
Another fun romantic suspense read from Jayne Ann Krentz. The additional 2 short stories were good too.
An old collection with three tales of "suspense" - a Krentz novella followed by short stories from Sinclair and Miller. The novella is classic Krentz (spunky heroine, take-charge hero, eccentric supporting characters, mildly dangerous mystery). The short stories are so-so (improbable yet predictable, a bit overwrought). Good for passing time on a train but they won't keep you up late.
PI Josh January is suffering from burn-out and injuries from a recent investigation. When a "cush job" in a vacation setting comes along, Josh's partner convinces him to take the assignment and get some much needed R & R. But nothing is as expected: the client is a lovely young woman and the job may prove deadly.
light interesting stories. worth the read.
3 different stories: The Private Eye by Jayne Ann Krentz - PI Josh January is no hero, but he'll fake it for Maggie Gladstone... Keegan's Bluff by Dani Sinclair - When Gillian's car broke down, she thought she was having a bad day. Then a half-naked man tackled her, and she knew she was having a bad day... Cop Next Door by Julie Miller - Loner Ethan Cross doesn't trust anyone - it's all part of the job for an undercover cop. So is his suspicious mind just working overtime...or is his pretty new neightbor really hiding something?
Two great books in one: by Jayne Ann Krentz and Lori Foster. Excellent!
Lori Foster book the best.
I never read this book that was given to me by a friend. So I thought that I would pass it on to someone to enjoy it.
Krentz, 12-time bestselling author, leads this special collection with her novel about an innkeeper who's read too many detective novels and a burned-out private eye who thinks a case at Maggie's B&B is going to be a cinch. In Foster's new novel, "Beguilded, " an errant son returns to his family to find the murderer of his twin brother. In the process, he tries to keep from falling in love with his brother's old flame.
Contains two short stories by Jayne Ann Krentz and Lori Foster.
two great stories by two great authors. Worth the read.
from the back cover: Maggie is an innkeeper who's read too many detective novels. And burned-out private eye Josh January figures a case at Maggie's B&B is going to be a cinch. He's wrong. And if he doesn't start playing the hero, he doesn't have a prayer with Maggie.
