Since you all are so nice I thought i"d ask here. Its about book conditions. I have 2 books I'm not sure about posting 1 is like new except that some took a hole puncher and punched a small whole through its front cover, is it unpostanle? With the other book the book is again like new except that the front cover was folded back in the bag from when I brought it home, is it unpostable? Thanks for your time!! :) |

I would probably say no on the one with the hole punch, and yes to the other one. Bent covers are not against the rules, as long as there is no separation from the book. On the one with the hole, all the rules say is that a tear up to 1 inch is ok, anything more is not, so I would interpret a hole to be more than a tear. That said, if these are WL books, you can still offer them for a credit if you can find someone who wants it. I believe there is a thread in the Book Bazaar for this purpose, and also here in this forum, people have used the "Is this on your WL" thread for offering unpostable WL books for credit. |

I'd say yes, they're both postable. The one with the hole punch on the cover, I'd probably offer up on the "is this on your WL thread" though so you can describe the condition and the requestor knows what they're getting. |

I'm really surprised the hole punched isn't addressed in the help docs, since I think it's a fairly common occurance. I think it would fall under the "less than one inch" rule - if less than an inch of missing cover is okay, I don't see why a less than an inch hole (I assume ) wouldn't be okay. (I got a book once and didn't notice until after marking it received that a huge section of the pages were punched! I was less than thrilled. :-\) |
