He is married to a woman who has been absent from his life since he and Haley met more than two years ago, he is a ruthless womanizer, with a reputation for using women for his personal gain, and he is a wealthy drug kingpin known as "The Michael Jordan of the drug game." When they meet, DeMarco is the owner of a hip-hop record label, and Haley, also the president of a record label that is on the brink of bankruptcy and about to close its doors, has set out to start a new magazine and public relations company in which DeMarco ends up investing thousands of dollars. In an attempt to become a legitimate businessman, DeMarco launders his drug money through these companies. Haley never intended to fall in love with DeMarco. No, falling in love with a married kingpin was not Haley's plan. Along the way, we see! her internal struggle with her conscience about dating a married man, and her emotions that she has always been able to control end up controlling her. The novel takes a turn when DeMarco’s double life catches up with him and threatens to destroy all that he has worked hard to build...including his relationship with Haley…the only woman he has ever truly loved. The novel, set on California’s West Coast—in the entertainment mecca of Los Angeles, is filled with strife, controversy, deception, and intrigue. Leading up to a heartwarming ending, The Problem Is, I Fell In Love's population of outspoken, earthy characters sound off on hot issues in the African-American community. Some will read The Problem Is I Fell In Love for the love story, some to watch a man's soul-struggle and redemption, but others will pick up the story just to read Haley's clique of candid black women giving "real talk" about men, work, life, and white society.
