Someone was offering a 3 for 1 deal so I clicked on her bookshelf to see what she had to offer.  I saw a book "Dirty Blonde" and thought okay this is a book that I want.  I ordered it off of her bookshelf and then sent her a PM stating that I ordered Dirty Blonde and told her the two other books that I wanted.  This morning she sends me a very nice email saying that she is holding my freebies on the side, but it doesn't show up on her end that I ordered Dirty Blonde.

I just went in and looked and it looks like I got the book from some other person even though I ordered it off of her bookshelf.  How in the world can that happen?  I didn't do a search for this book.  I was actually in her bookshelf when I was looking to see what books she had for her deal.  I saw this one and thought, what the heck I would order it.  How can it go to someone else?  I guess she needs to let my freebies go.  The other person has already accepted my request and printed their label.

This is so not fair to both her and me.  Now I only get the one book and not the deal!  Does anyone have any idea how this can happen?

Try to PM the other person to ask them to cancel the order.  Explain what happened, and if they haven't already mailed it, they can cancel it.

This is what probably happened.  You went to her shelf, saw a book you were interested in, clicked on it to read about itand clicked order while on that screne.  It would be at that point that the order went to the FIFO system.

In order to get a book directly off someones shelf, you have to stay on their mail paige where it is listing ALL of their books and place the order there.

I hope it all works out for you!!

I learned this the hard way.  I've done the same thing several times before I figured out what I was doing.

Thanks everyone who filled me in on what I had done wrong.

Once the label has been printed only PBS can cancel a transaction.  So if they haven't post the postage on the book, you could ask them to contact PBS and cancel the request.  My guess is you are out of luck and have learned a lesson.  I think it's a pretty common mistake.  When I order from a book deal-I immediately check to make sure it went to the right person, so I can cancel if it didn't. I also keep an eye on the transaction-one time I ordered a book deal from someone. She forgot to mark the book mailed and it reordered it from someone else.  Luckily I caught it before I ended up getting the book from someone else.

This is not quite right. The sender can still cancel the transaction after printing the wrapper up until the "book has been mailed" button is clicked.

Hmm. I always thought it couldn't be sent even after it was printed. But then I've never tried to cancel one where I've printed the address.

I've done this too!  Thankfully the other person told me to try the PM button and make sure the request had gone to her.  I was able to cancel because the request hadn't been accepted.

I think we've all done this at one time or another.
