Anyone else having issues with packages showing as delivered but members not reporting such?  I have mailed out 3 packages on two different days to three different states.  When I check USPS track and confirm, all three show as being delivered (one on the 7th, two on the 10th) but none of the members have indicated they received them yet.  I know that the DC delivery date does not always mean it was actually delivered to the individual, but I am worried because I have 6 credits on the line here.  I really feel that this is not a USPS problem but of course can't prove otherwise.

well sometiime they are delived to the wrong address or if sending to a po box its considered delivered when placed

into tthe box   apparenly you are not using dc or printed postage from pbs  -as you said 3 credits are on the line

had you use dc or printed postage from pbs you would have already gotten your credits  when you mailed them or when the post office

scanned them

Dawn, since it has been a few days, send a PM to the members and politely inquire if the book has been received.  If they don't respond/mark it received after a week, you can contact the PBS Team and they can investigate.

There are more details in the Help Center doc titled "If a book you sent hasn't been marked received yet..."

Can't say where the problem is until you know if they didn't get the book or have been out of town or whatever. ;-)

I personally find this happens a lot, sadly, there are a lot of PBS members who don't feel it's their responsibility to log into PBS RIGHT AWAY to mark a book received... that's why I started using PBS DC, I used to use Paypal instead to save money on the fees.  Like Elizabeth said, it's not unreasonable to send a PM now (my usual message is, "I just wanted to make sure this book has arrived.  USPS said it was delivered on 3/5/11.  If it has arrived, please make sure to mark it received, I'm looking forward to spending my points on something new to read!")

Sounds frustrating Dawn (and yes there are similar posts in other forums).  Are schools having mid-winter and/or spring breaks now . . . which could mean folks are out of town?

Earlier this week, I signed on as hubby was getting ready for work (I'm usually only on late at night, though sometimes can get on in afternoon--I'm sick right now).  My en route book with DC showed delivered at 6:38 am!   Now my mail rarely arrives before noon, but PO isn't even open at that time!

I was out  when it finally arrived so it was after 6pm before I could mark it "received".

They cannot scanned delivered at the Post Office and I would have something to say to them.  This is illegal.  We both worked for the P.O. and know that for a fact.  The carrier is trying to make sure they are scanned but they cannot do it this way.  You could try talking to the supervisor or Postmaster if it bothers you.

As for the question about deliveries not being marked by receivers, some people often forget and catch up on the weekends or on Mondays.  It is Spring Break for some schools and could be they are on vacation.  I send a PM after 5-7 days past showing delivery.  PBS has something about this in their help docs.  Usually I ask if they have gotten the book yet.  Is there a problem?  Please PM me and let me know.  I am a bit anxious.  Thank you.

Most members are pretty nice and say they were gone, or forgot or whatever.  I did have one very nasty person in NC.  I try to mark it delivered that same day, at worst the next day as I know how much the credits mean to others.  Just common courtesy for me.

Regardless of regulation Priscilla, some members report that their PO marks books 'delivered' when they should actually be marked 'received at unit'.  Dunno if they lack the proper software or improperly trained, but it happens in a few areas.  Then sometimes the book sits at the PO a couple more days before actual delivery, so it appears the requester has received the book but not logged it in.

I don't have my mail sent to my house. We rent a box at the ups store. I only check my mail once or twice a week. I may be in the minority here, but it bugs me when other members send me a pm asking if I have received the book. Its been a while since I've requested a book, but doesn't pbs send out emails asking the same thing?

ome books do not get marked received because the person is inactive but still has an active wish list which triggers a book order.

Sending to these folks will help clean up the system, because when media does not get marked received at all, PBS will look into it and if they cannot contact the member they suspend the account.

As for taking forever to mark received, some members have a PO Box and don't got but once every 10 days.   I have no problem with this if I KNOW this.  The courteous members will PM you about stuff like this.

If I continually send to people (and yes, I often received repeat orders here and on SwapaDVD) who either chronically "forget" to mark things received,  or don't communicate with me at all if somethiing is going to be really really late,  I just stop trading with them altogether.

Here's a funny one.  :)   Member marked my book mailed.    Book takes *forever* to arrive.  I look at postmark when it does finally arrive, and postmark is 15 days AFTER the person marked mailed.  And absolutely NO courtesy PM to me like "your book will be late".    Also, a day before the system is supposed to time out the book, I send a PM to this person, which goes unasnwered.

Yet, by absolute coincidence, I get an order that same week for a heavily wishlisted book............from this sender!!!!    LOL

So, they had no problem logging in to accept a wishlisted book from me------- but can't be bothered to answer PMs about a book they were supposed to send to ME, and which was actually mailed 15 days after they said they mailed it.

Do you really WANT to trade with somebody like that?  LOL

It's interesting that lately only my orders sent with DC seem to be taking forever to reach their destinations!--even light ones sent first class  I usually don't pay for DC except when I send a WL book.
