It was suggested I post my question here and maybe someone with the postal service might provide some insight.  I haven't had much luck with my local post office.  I moved into a recently built house in a new subdivision.  I am receiving mail at the address and my mail is being forwarded from my previous address.  I am having problems with updating my address when USPS validation is being used.  The yellow forwarding stickers on my mail have the ZIP + 4, but my address is still not being shown in the USPS system as being validated.  Does anyone know how an address becomes validated or what the timeframe is for validation?  This is my first time moving to a brand-new house, and I haven't experienced this before.  The local post office just told me that my address needs to be validated, but didn't really say how that happens.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

This same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. We bought a new house and moved in right before Christmas. My address wouldn't validate either so I contacted the post office. They informed me that it can take up to 90 days for the address to be validated through the website even though I was already receiving mail at the new address. My address did not validate until the end of February so I just had my books sent to a friends house until I could change it to my address (after it finally validated).

Thanks for the information Shelley.  That's exactly what I needed to know.  I thought I remembered the option of having a book sent to someone else.  Does that choice come up when you request a book?

When I created my account, it wouldn't let me use my address because it didn't validate. Therefore, I immediately called my friend and asked to use hers which I did.

You can update or change your address through the settings option under the My Account tab.

We just moved into a newly built home also and had the same problem.  I contacted the PO and it wsa being processed it just took awhile.  It ended up being about a little over two months before it would validate.  I had everything sent to my mom's house until it did.  GL!
