Samantha reviewed Prom Night (Daw Book Collectors, No. 1122) on
Helpful Score: 1
This book is twenty-two short stories written by authors of science fiction/horror/fantasy. While I don't generally like those genres, these little stories were great! Imagine twenty-two episodes of the Twilight Zone all centered around the theme of prom night. Very enjoyable!
Was your prom the best night of your life--or did you refuse to attend it? Well, whether you loved it, hated it, or never got to one and always wondered if you missed anything--let such imaginative chaperones as Dave Smeds, Fred Saberhagen, A.R. Morlan, Lawrence Schimel, Lawrence Watt-Evans, and Billie Sue Mosiman reveal to you just what might have been going on behind the scenes.
From an elf who can only stay in the mortal realm if he gets a date for the prom...to a young man who finds out that forbidden acts sometimes depend on your perspective...to a boy who wants far more from his date than her body....to a girl who gives a whole new slant to the legend of Pygmalion...to a guy who knows he's got to find a date for the prom--even if she's dead...here are 22 evenings to remember--and be thankful that none of these people were in your class!
